Ok, it's been an eventful couple of days. Where should I start? How about at the beginning you say?? :) good idea!
Well, i reported how New Year's went. So what happened after that... Oh. Sunday night I was sleeping (actually everyone in my house was, including Tom). Everything was fine. Except I couldn't sleep that well b/c of the long nap I took (b/c of my lack of sleep from New Year's. it became a viscious cycle.) Anywho. I finally fall asleep... and then in the middle of the night things went CRAZY. My mom comes in my room and starts freaking out and screaming! Of course i'm half asleep so i don't know what's going on. I get up and she's yelling "get out of the house!! the carbon monoxide detector is going off!!!" YES. that's what she said. INSANE I KNOW. So we all scramble to get out of the house. And I freak b/c I won't leave my cats behind (i'm like the old lady w/ cats, i know). SO that was insane b/c us freaking out (plus the loud sound of the detector) freaked the cats out and made them hard to catch. Ugh.
So then the we call the fire department and they come. We're all sitting outside (well me, my brother & Tom are in the car b/c it's 4am and cold). The truck comes down the street w/ the lights on and everything (but no siren). They come (one of them turns out to be Jimm (w/ 2 m's) who use to work w/ my dad. They check the house, and YES the carbon monoxide levels were high. OMG. right?
So then we have to call the gas company, but it's going to take them an hour. So we put all the cats (in their cages) into the camper (thank god for that, right?). So Tom and I go to his house to go back to bed. Mom calls when the gas company came. Turns out our furnace had a bad burner, and we had to replace the whole thing.
So this is a lesson... make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector THAT WORKS! Scary stuff.
