Friday the 13th

Ok... so apparently it's a bad idea to try and travel on Friday the 13th. As you know I was suppose to fly to Nashville yesterday on a 1:15 flight. Then drive w/ Kate to Paducah and stay the weekend with Terra. Well that didn't quite happen.

So I stayed with Patti thursday night and got up Friday morning and headed to the airport via cab at 9:30. Surprisingly made it not just to O'Hare but through check in by 10:07. I thought, hey this is going to go smoothly. But I had a ton of time to kill so I hung around. Then I realized it was freaking SNOWING outside! SNOW. Yes. We haven't seen snow in over a month, and it's been relatively warm out to. But things looked as though we'd leave on time. Well we had a little delay. We didn't board the plane until 1:33, only about half hour delay. Not to bad. Well then it all turned stupid. Yes, stupid. We sat on that plane for nearly 3 hours!! They were all, we have to de-ice the plane. So they did, then it took too long to get to get onto the runway that we had to de-ice AGAIN. Well then there was a huge line and blah blah blah. We thought we'd just be delayed a few hours (which I could live with b/c my flight was early enough to not delay plans). Anyways, after 3 hours on this stupid plane they tell us the flight has been CANCELLED!!! But they never did/would tell us why. So we all have to get off and try and re-book. Well they automatically re-booked me for Saturday at 1:15, but that wasn't going to work. So I try my hardest but I couldn't get a seat on any of the 2 remaining Friday flights to Nashville.

So basically I couldn't go. I was beyond pissed. Plus I felt HORRIBLE. On top of that b/c I had checked my suitcase (I only did b/c it was too big) I couldn't just get it and go home. I had to go home and now I have to wait until they find my suitcase. Which probably went on a flight to Nashville and then will come back to Chicago. It really sucks and both Terra & Kate were let down, so I feel bad. We're going to try and re-schedule for February some time and I pray the weather cooperates.

What frustrates me is we haven't had snow in a LONG time, but yesterday it was crazy blizzard like. But when we were getting ready to take off it wasn't even snowing anymore, it had turned into a light drizzle. So still no idea why they cancelled the flight. And low and behold today is the most beautiful day. It's all blue skies and sunny, not a single cloud in the air!! WTF is up with that?!?

So all in all I feel bad, I'm bumed and I hope I can make it up to Terra & Kate.
