So I just finished reading my second novel by Marian Keyes, titled Last Chance Saloon. Although I don't feel it was quite as good as The Other Side of the Story, it was still fantastic.
It follows the lives of 3 main characters (though there is a 4th friend who they touch upon a bit), as they're in their 30's and living in London. When one begins to deal with a medical scare, the other 2 are left to reaxmine their lives.
It's extremely well written and in Marian Keyes fashion goes back and forth between characters at just the right times to keep you interested.
Then the story of a 4th main character starts to be told and it's utterly confusing b/c he isn't a friend of any of the main characters (Tara, Katherine or Fintan). So right up until the very end it keeps you wondering who this Lorcan character is and why he is important.
The ending is enough to make you love the book -- I expected it all to tie together in a very cliche way. But it doesn't. I won't tell you what happens, b/c then why would you want to read it? :)
My next adventure is: My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. So far i'm on page 25 and LOVE it! Definetly a good break from Chic-Lit (as was Memoirs of a Geisha).
Until either my next post, or review!
